 Hannibal

collection exploring a diverse range of psychological profiles
I had recently watched a TV-show based on the Hannibal series by author Thomas Harris, and was completely captivated by its visual presence and character profiles. I decided to pick out the killers and victims that intrigued me most and dissected and analyzed their methods, motivations, and goals in more depth.
Here I’m making a list of characters I am interested in exploring and writing their distinctive qualities to translate into visual terms. For instance, the character known as the Minnesota Shrike was a cannibal and hunter who targeted young girls that were similar in appearance and age to his own daughter, a tendency that formed from his being possessive over her. He would consume his victims and make sure that none of their parts went to waste; thus he could be described as an “affectionate” cannibal. From this character I extracted ideas such as mimicking the silhouette and colors of the actual shrike bird, giving the garment protective qualities, etc.
